No Primary Responsibilities Performs pre-shift administrative duties including assigning work to employees/lines and providing them with a work schedule for the shift Leads and enforces pre-shift stretching Compiles a trailer sheet to direct the yard switcher regarding trailer placement for the shift Oversees the loading and material counts of pickup orders as they arrive Communicates with the Lamination Manager or Senior Lead regarding product flow from dock to lamination and with Scheduling Supervisor regarding changes to schedule Enforces use of set-up verification Communicates changes in customer specifications to lead cutters and line leads Ensures correct order and amounts are put on correct trailers Provides back up in copying work orders for distribution; double-checks accuracy based on knowledge of customer products and requirements Ensures that all trailers have the proper paperwork attached to the inside tail, that the paperwork is given to the yard switcher before any trailer is pulled out of the dock bay or is placed on trailers in yard Writes correct trailer numbers on the drivers' clipboard at the end of every shift; the second shift senior lead completes the drivers' board in the drivers' room at the end of second shift Ensures blocks are scanned out; investigates errors in block scanning and informs line supervisor of errors (when/who) so performance can be corrected Monitors all line leads and helpers throughout the shift to verify quality checks are being recorded; initials paperwork to verify the check (hourly control sheets) Ensures that count sheets are being used correctly Monitors packaging and labels as products come off the lines; makes and necessary corrections or adjustments Completes 'Production Issues' reports on a daily basis, showing material and time loss and reasons for loss Takes inventory of the operating supplies and packaging material on 15th and last day of each month; gives copy to supervisor and results to Purchasing Agent Conducts a pre and post-shift department walk-through with other shift leads Is responsible for collecting all quality control paperwork, count sheets and cut sheets; prepares the paperwork by work order and forwards to Production Coordinator Assists carriers/drivers with trailer number information/paperwork for the load Communicates any issues that arise during the shift involving material or employees via end-of-shift e-mail Verifies employees' hours through Kronos and notifies payroll of any vacation, OT, lack of work, etc.
Ensures that injured employees work within restrictions Assists supervisor and manager with employee reviews, coaching, counseling, training, department meetings, CARS and incident reports Ensures all safety requirements are being followed and notifies supervisors of any unsafe conditions Completes required production, shipping and quality records.
Ensures they are accurate, neat and legible Ensures that production and quality standards are achieved Operates department machines and Hilo; packages and loads material as necessary Performs hourly QC checks to ensure an acceptable product is being produced Notifies supervisor of any break down of equipment (submits work orders to Maintenance) and when production goals are not being accomplished Assists in the elimination of waste and grind material in department and correctly follows and enforces Grind Procedure Communicates with supervisor or manager any requests for resources as needed Inspects the department clean up at the end of the shift and completes walk through with incoming Sr.
Lead Maintains highest level possible of cleanliness and organization Embraces and works on continuous improvement through utilization of lean principles such as '5S' Works necessary hours as determined by supervisor to complete tasks Follows posted schedule for production requirements Continuously strives to lower material costs and improve efficiencies of dock/shipping operation Responsible for learning the differences in materials used Performs outside (SWPPP) clean-up as requested Performs other related tasks/projects as requested by supervisor Assists and/or works in other departments as requested Experience 3-4 years of manufacturing experience 1-2 years of experience in a production lead role Forklift experience Experience with ERP systems is a plus Must be fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.
Must be able to use simple math and use basic hand-held measuring tools.
Must be computer literate; Excel, Word, Outlook, ERP systems Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work independently with little supervision Advanced ability to communicate clearly (both orally and written) and openly communicates and shares ideas Basic math skills with the ability to read tape measure/calipers and to utilize metric scale Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner Able to read and interpret any documents Basic computer skills including word, excel, email and PeopleSoft.
